The One Thing I Needed to Change Was…
So now that you’ve gotten to know me a little better, want to know how I got to this point?
I’ve been struggling with some deep-seated personal issues for most of my life. I have struggled with a very poor self-image and fear (doubt and worry). The very first time I can remember not being good enough was when I didn’t make the 8th grade cheerleading squad (and now I”m a cheer mom – funny how things come back around!). I let FEAR creep into my life. I let FEAR rule everything. What would others think? What if I fail? Yada, yada yada.
Honesty. That’s why we are all here right?
I told myself over and over again that I wasn’t good enough. I started to believe everything my brain was telling me. For 20+ years I believed the lies that I’d been telling myself. I’d been standing in my own way for so long that I didn’t have the tools to move on and create a better me. SO…I decided to hire a Life Coach.
A WHAT?!?!?
Yep, a Life Coach. But why?
Remember those cheerleaders who were always happy? So happy that you wanted to slap them for being so peppy, rooting on the team and getting the crowd going, well that’s one job of a Life Coach. Think about it, who doesn’t want somebody who is always in their corner, fighting for them, and giving them a slap on the ass – Good game!
I needed a Life Coach to help me, help me realize it’s all about how I train my brain to think. I needed to realize the one thing I needed to change was….ME!
Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not all sunshine and roses!! A Life Coach just doesn’t tell you’re awesome all the time and poof – you fart glitter! There’s a lot of work that one has to do! A Life Coach is there to see you for the real you, to help you work through some of your most difficult times, to help you really think through thoughts. They help see what thoughts you’ve created and how they are or are not serving you. They are there make sure that you learn to celebrate yourself (what better excuse to have a glass of wine or champagne!) and really go after whatever it is that you are wanting to accomplish. They are able to see you from a different perspective and offer a new way of thinking about things that are happening in your life.
I was introduced to my Life Coach, Stacey Smith, about a year and a half ago through my best friend, Lindsay. She invited me to come to a workshop for women in business, primarily network marketing. I wanted to learn more about how to grow my Rodan+Fields business and how to succeed in the best way possible. Let’s be honest, being a teacher for 10+ years doesn’t really teach you how to be a business person!
I went to the workshop and I learned so much in just that one day!!! Stacey offered a 6 week course – The Networth of Your Network and I signed up for that too!! We would have calls once a week and would learn something new every week. Not only did we learn about the business side of things but we also got to hear about each other’s struggles in their business and in life and she would coach us through some of our problems.
Our weekly calls blossomed to the Diva Business School, a once a week call where we learn and grow so much!!! And let me tell you, I’ve never been around such an amazing, strong group of women in my life!! I’ve laughed, cried and celebrated so much with these women, they are my tribe!! In some upcoming blogs, you’ll get to meet a few of these awesome divas that have truly become my tribe!!
A few months ago, Lindsay, now a life coach, paired with a few other amazing women from our Diva Business School that have gone on to become Life Coaches themselves to host a Live Your Light event. During the event one of the Coaches, Leah, posed the question: “What is something that you’ve always wanted to do, but you were to scared to do?” For some reason, my hand shot up, she called on me, and out blurted “I want to start a mommy blog and share all the things that I do with my kids that others always ask me how to do.”
So here I am, writing my 2nd blog and getting so excited to start publishing!!!
I want to ask the same question to you.
What is something that you’ve always wanted to do but you were too scared to do? How can I or my friends help you realize your dreams?
I will go into more life coaching lessons in future blogs because I feel they’ve impacted my life so much that I want to share them with everyone!! I will definitely share about my experience going on a retreat with some pretty amazing women!!! Life changing for sure!!
So for now, I’ll leave you with this: Stop living in your past and your future and live in your present!! Life happens for you!!!
I would love if anyone has questions about Life Coaching to please comment! And if you want to learn more about the coaches that I’ve mentioned here are some links for them as well:
